Finally, a "mostly" fully restored Streets a Rock Opera the way Jon Oliva, Paul O'Neill, Criss Oliva and the rest of the gang wanted.
As most already know the story goes that several songs an entire second albums worth were scrapped by the label at the time of the original release date due to the shift in music with the onset of grunge and other almagamations of metal, and the album was released as we know it today in all its glory . . . but it is still missing it'a true story the way Paul and Jon envisioned it.
Time slips away and as fate would have it Christmas Eve Saraevo hit it big with the mass apeal market which inspired the creation of Trans Siberian Orchestra and the rest as they say is history, or is it?
Paul and Jon still wanting to release Streets a Rock Opera in it's entirety decided that with their new found fortune they would re-release the album themselves putting up the capital and investment.
Unfortunately when they went to their label (a major label) to get the original recordings to assemble the new complet restored Streets a Rock Opera there was a slight issue regarding the Original Master Recordings.
It seems the label had misplaced them in their vast library of media and could not find them. Jon and Paul even offered up a reward for anyone that could find them but to no avail.
It seems the world is forever to be deprived of the genius that was Streets a Rock Opera a true magnum opus.
Rock Duck Radio has assembled what we believe to be the most restored version of this lost masterpiece.
We did however have to sacrifice as we could never find "Sanctuary" so we substituted it with its repurposed song "Target".
Island of the Kings is a really rough take from a personal device, not from the original masters, but it somehow really works this way.
Desiree is from the release that Zac Stevens sang on, it was the only version we could find and even though it has Zac on vocals the song takes on a whole new meaning when put in proper context with the other songs to tell the more full complete story of D.T. Jesus and the Subway Messiahs.
Larry Elbows was also rereleased but did not have Criss Oliva playing on it, this version is the Original One featuring the one and only Criss Oliva on guitar.
This albulm has meant a lot to me and over the years I see how it has meant a lot to many people. The music touches the heart and soul in a way that I can not put into words, so without further ado here is for your entertainment listening pleasure, Savatage: Streets a Rock Opera almost fully restored!
